Although the styles are different, not much has changed. Today’s youth still dress to impress. We can all remember that feeling of stepping off the bus on the first day of school – rocking some new kicks that you convinced your mom were absolutely necessary for the new year, and hoping that girl you like would notice how fresh you look. The way you present yourself is everything – a sentiment that is not lost on the previous generation. Behold! Throwback styles so fresh, you might need to take a page or two from their book.
And let’s not forget about the bottom half. Sneakers you would’ve killed for back in the day!
CONVERSE STAR TECH
The Converse Star Tech Hi was released in 1984 in many different colorways (there was even a line called Star Tech Colors). In terms of quality, they were every bit as good as the legendary Nike Dunk. Converse decided to stop producing them in 1986, to make room for products featuring more advanced technologies for basketball. Few years later some Mid versions were released, in a less wide range of colorways than the original ones: they became quite popular among skaters and metalheads around the late 80s.
NIKE AIRFORCE I
Not everyday can one stumble upon a pair of original Air Force Ones, especially when it is 2014. The Air Force 1′s were the shoe that changed everything as we know it today. Never before was one style of Nike shoe so popular that public demand forced it to be brought back only 2 years after its debut.
For the past 25 years the Air Force 1 has been the official shoe of hip hop and was the standard that all basketball shoes were built up from. Despite the thousands of pairs of Air Force Ones that have been released, the original colorway was a very neutral White/Grey color.
NIKE AIR JORDAN III
The Air Jordan III (3) broke ground for many different aspects of the Nike Air Jordan shoe line. First, the Air Jordan 3 featured the “Jumpman” on the tongue of the shoe. This silhouette of Jordan was to celebrate and commemorate his Slam Dunk Contest victory the year before. Every Jordan after the Air Jordan 3 features this Jumpman as a focal point of the shoe as well as became the new logo for the Air Jordan line. The Air Jordan 3 was also the first to feature a visible air unit. Lastly, the Air Jordan 3 featured elephant print on the upper. Though this material was only used again on 1 other model, it set a standard that the Jordan shoes are as much fashionable as functional. The Air Jordan 3 also is one of the most famous shoes in the Air Jordan lineup. On many polls, the Air Jordan 3 finishes as the greatest sneaker of all time.
